The plant based movement is happening across the globe, and Goa definitely doesn’t fall behind on the shift.
Veg options are found of course, everywhere in India, with a majority of the countries population not eating meat, but of course, with the use of rich ghee and paneer used in curries, or a sweet milky chai, it can be hard to steer away from dairy in this spice fuelled, rich and delicious cuisine.
Luckily in recent years, with people becoming a lot more conscious of the health, environmental and ethical impact of consuming less meat and dairy, plant based alternatives have begun to pop up everywhere, and like-minded individuals have opened up spaces to share with the world their moral standpoint, disguised as delicious and nourishing food.
Blessed by an abundance of fantastic plants like coconut, cashew and jack fruit – plant based alternatives have never been so fresh, and tasty. You can now find tofu, soy milk and even plant based butters in most supermarkets across North Goa, most cafes have a vegan option and if you visit a farmers market then you’re in for a treat!
